A big first quarter helped the Highland Huskies boys’ basketball team (2-0) to another league victory Friday night. The Huskies marched into Henry County for a Southeast Iowa Super Conference North battle versus the Winfield-Mount Union Wolves (0-2). Highland scored the first six points of the game and outscored WMU 22-7 in the first quarter. The Huskies ultimately won the game, 62-40.

Three Highland brothers nearly outscored WMU by themselves. Trent Lasek, Trey Lasek, and Zach Lasek combined to score 36 points in the victory. Trent Lasek scored 17 of his game-high 19 points in the first half. Zach Lasek had all 13 of his points in the second half.

Bryce Robison led WMU with 17 points and eight rebounds. B.J. Rodgers scored eight of his 10 points in the second half.

The victory improves Highland to 2-0 overall. The Huskies host the Iowa Mennonite School on Tuesday. WMU falls to 0-2 overall. The Wolves resume their season at home Friday versus Burlington Notre Dame.
