Following a week long layoff, the Mid-Prairie boys and girls basketball teams return to action tonight at the friendly confines of Tim Grady Gymnasium when they welcome the West Liberty Comets to Wellman.

The Golden Hawk girls were overtime winners last Friday, outlasting Wilton on the road 49-46, led by Ireland Hostetler’s 15 points and 17 boards. On the season the Golden Hawks are led by Addie Rath at 10 points per game. Rath also holds the team lead with 21 assists, seventh best in the River Valley Conference. Hostetler leads on the glass with 42 rebounds, ninth best in the league.

West Liberty enters tonight with an 0-8 overall record. In their last game they fell to Columbus 83-47. Haddie Anderson led the Comets with six points. For the season West Liberty is led by Anderson at 12 points per game. Haylee Lehman holds the team lead with nine assists. Anderson and Austyn Crees each lead the team with 34 rebounds.

These two teams met twice a year ago with the Golden Hawks winning both, 52-30 at West Liberty and 58-33 in Wellman.

The Mid-Prairie boys enter tonight fresh off of their first win of the season taking down Wilton on the road 56-48. Tom Butters led the way with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Derek Rich finished with 11 points. On the season Rich leads the Golden Hawks and is eighth in the conference at 13 points per game. Brad Tornow has the team lead with nine assists. Cary Schaeffer leads the Golden Hawks with 17 rebounds.

The Comets enter tonight with a record of 3-3, in their last game they topped Columbus last night 55-43. On the season West Liberty is led by Tanner Iske at eight points per game. Seth Feldman leads the team and is seventh in the conference with 12 assists. Noah Feldman is best on the team and second in the conference with 43 rebounds.

These two teams met twice a year ago with West Liberty sweeping the series 41-40 at home and winning 55-52 in Wellman.
