Two area basketball teams will square off in a boy/girl doubleheader tonight in Sigourney for a pair of non-conference games. .

The Demon girls basketball team (1-4) is looking to return to winning form after a pair of losses last week to ranked teams. Washington recorded 42 points total in setbacks to No. 5 Center Point-Urbana (6-0) and the No. 13 Fairfield Trojans (5-2). Sarah Nacos is Washington’s leading scorer through five games,recording 66 points. Sigourney is off to a 5-0 start under first-year head coach Zach Tremmel, including a season-opening victory over Class 5A Burlington (2-4), 64-57. Autum Barthelman leads Sigourney with 97 points and 24 assists.

The Demon boys’ basketball team (0-2) is searching for their first victory this season after losses to Muscatine (66-33) and Fairfield (64-46). Sigourney (2-2) has won two of their first four games this season. The Savages are coming off of a 66-19 loss to Keota Friday night.
