Nine duals into the season and the Sigourney-Keota wrestling team (9-0) has yet to suffer a loss. The squad picked up three more victories Tuesday in a South Iowa Cedar League quadrangular in Thornberg against Lynnville-Sully (54-27), Southeast Warren (39-38), and Tri-County (78-0). The toughest competition came from Southeast Warren, who entered the event as the Class 1A No. 10 dual team. Trailing 38-33 entering the final match of the night, Sigourney’s Noah Reeves (182) pinned Bryce Vandelunen 18 seconds into the match to help Sigourney-Keota pull out a one-point victory, 39-38.

Seven Sigourney-Keota wrestlers have recorded 10 or more wins this winter; they include Mason Dye (106), Cole James (113), Zech Boender (138), Noah Reeves (182), Kaleb Reeves (195), Noah Boender (220), and Cooper Greiner (285). The Predicament lists Kaleb Reeves as Class 1A’s No. 2 wrestler at 195 pounds, while Noah Boender sits as the No. 5 grappler at 220 pounds.

The Sigourney-Keota wrestling team will travel to Iowa City Saturday for the Regina Invitational tournament. First matches will commence at 9 a.m. at Regina High School.
