Temperatures are expected to drop to 25 degrees in the next few days and with that remember to take extra care of your pets. Amber Talbot, director of PAWS and More Animal Shelter in Washington, says plastic dog houses on their own will not be warm enough. To help protect your pet from the elements, use straw for bedding and add styrofoam around the outside of the house to help insulate it. Also, she says to not use towels or blankets to help keep pets warm outside because they freeze solid when they get wet. Another step you can take is to use a heated bowl to make sure their water doesn’t freeze.

Also, PAWS and More is holding it’s holiday open house this afternoon with the goal of getting each animal a home for the holidays.
