The trial for the man charged in an April incident of vehicular homicide and hit and run resulting in death has been moved back to January 10th. The trial for 26-year-old Justin Hay was initially scheduled to begin Tuesday, December 13th, but according to the Henry County Attorney’s Office, it was pushed back due to several motions made to the judge. Hay was involved in a car crash that killed Lindy Greenfield on April 9th in Mt. Pleasant. Hay fled the scene on foot and was not heard from until he was discovered at the Jefferson County Hospital on April 18th.

Hay was formally charged in September with homicide by vehicle and reckless driving, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. He was brought into custody on October 5th by the Jefferson County Sheriff, and is now in the Henry County Jail. He was assigned a public defender. On October 19th, Hay had a written arraignment where he entered a plea of not guilty. Hay is still in custody at the Henry County Jail on $10,000 cash only bond. The Iowa State Patrol and Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation have been assisting the Henry County Attorney with the case.
