The spotlight is on the leaders of the No. 10 Washington Demon wrestling team (11-0) tonight. The Demons wrestle at home versus conference opponent the Keokuk Chiefs (1-3). Washington’s seven seniors will be recognized prior to the dual; they include Alex Latcham, Kyle Anderson, Austin Hazelett, Lane Keeler, Karlton Skubal, Trey Van Weelden, and Andrew Waite.

Washington kept their undefeated dual record intact with a 57-17 conference win last Thursday over Fairfield. Walker Ikerd (106), Dillan Sanders (126), Anderson (132), Hazelett (145), Van Weelden (152), Tristin Westphal-Edwards (160), and Logan Escher (170) posted wins by fall.

Currently, six Demon wrestlers are ranked in the Class 2A wrestling poll produced by The Predicament. They are Walker Ikerd (No. 6; 106), Anderson (No.7; 126), Hazelett (No. 8; 145), Van Weelden (No. 4; 152), Westphal-Edwards (No. 5; 160), and Karlton Skubal (No. 7; 195).

The strength of the Keokuk Chiefs’ lineup is through the middle weights. Aston Meyers (126), Brandt O’Shea (132), and Matt Wyatt (138) have a combined record of 21-0 this winter. The Predicament lists O’Shea as Class 2A’s No. 2 wrestler. The Chiefs began the conference dual season with a loss to the Mount Pleasant Panthers (2-0), 57-21. Washington bested Keokuk in last year’s dual, 44-26.
