The Winfield-Mt. Union boys basketball team scored their first Southeast Iowa Superconference win of the season Tuesday night, beating Iowa Mennonite at home 67-59 in overtime.

The Wolves led all through the first half, and by as many as eight, late in the second quarter before IMS started a run that finished at 29-7, spanning the first and second half to lead 24-23 at the half. When the dust cleared from the run, IMS led 42-28 with one minute left in the third quarter. A jumper from Cole Ours of IMS, a lay in by Cody McCreight of WMU and a pair of free throws from Nick Yutzy down the stretch left IMS holding a 54-51 lead with 30 seconds left. On their final chance to tie, the Wolves found Brock Fricke open on the left wing for three. The senior drilled the jumper with four seconds remaining to tie the game. IMS had a chance to win the game with a second left on the clock and the shot came up short, sending the game to overtime. In extra basketball, WMU ran with their momentum outscoring IMS 13-5 to grab the win.
