The Winfield-Mt. Union boys basketball team got by Pekin 71-66 Tuesday in their pre-Christmas finale.

The Wolves had to erase an early deficit, trailing 18-10 after one quarter they cut the deficit down to 27-26 going to the half. Pekin held that slim one point lead at 39-38 going to the fourth quarter. Down the stretch the Wolves did not wilt, pushing the Panthers to overtime. In the extra period the Wolves outscored Pekin 9-4 to secure the win.

WMU was led on the night by Bryce Robison’s monster 26 point and 20 rebound performance. Cody Mcreight had a double double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. BJ Rodgers was four of six from three point range, finishing with 17 points.

With the win the Wolves are now 4-4 on the year and will next be in action January 3rd at Mediapolis.
