Another pancake dinner for the Washington Fire Department is in the books. The annual fundraiser was held Wednesday. Joe Redlinger, chair of the committee that organizes the event, says it takes about a month to get everything together. They have to order the food, starting Monday they set up the tables and equipment and Tuesday they made all of the sausage patties. Redlinger adds it’s quite the grocery order with about 92 gallons of milk, 20 cases of pancake batter, and 4,500 eggs.

There were about 500 lunches served and an official tally for the day isn’t yet available, but the dinner line was out the door. Redlinger added, they’ve been lucky in not having major fire calls during the pancake fundraiser, as it’s all hands on deck during the event.

UPDATE: In total, 1800 meals were served.
