Influenza activity has increased across the state recently. Danielle Pettit-Majewski, administrator of Washington County Public Health, says they’re also seeing an uptick locally, including more children absent from school due to illness. She says the end of January to the beginning of February is usually the peak of flu activity. Also, rember the three Cs: cover your cough, clean your hands, and contain illness by staying home when you’re ill. A flu vaccine is recommended and she says it’s not too late to get one. When getting a flu vaccine, she recommends speaking with your primary healthcare provider first.
