Ice froze over streets, driveways and sidewalks across the area Sunday and Monday, resulting in many people using different methods to get rid of the slick surfaces. If using a salt or ice melt, Amber Talbot, director of PAWS and More, recommends you use a pet-friendly product to avoid irritating paw pads. After taking your pet out, remember to wipe down their feet to get rid of any ice melt or impacted snow and ice. Temperatures are expected to rise up to 50 degrees on Thursday, but will be below freezing overnight until then, so be aware of ice forming. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
