Three area teams competed Saturday in Wayland at the WACO Warrior Invitational.

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks had the highest team finish with 129 points, taking fourth place. East Buchanan won the meet with 171 points. Mid-Prairie crowned two champions on the day with Duncan McCain taking the title at 132lbs after beating Javis Krieger of New London by fall. Visouth Peterschmidt won the title at 195lbs, beating Clay Harper of Tri-County by fall. Jason Tew was runner up at 220lbs, he fell in the championship match to Quinton Cassell of Moravia.

WACO finished ninth in the 15 team field with their overall score of 65 points. WACO crowned one champion on the day with Cody Crawford winning the title at heavyweight beating Drake Fox of West Burlington Notre Dame/Danville by 6-4 decision. Other top finishers for WACO included Scott Christofferson fourth at 113lbs, and Kade McKinney fourth at 220lbs.

Lone Tree placed 14th as a team with their score of 30 points. Aaron Slaughter at 120lbs and Levi Tripses at 132lbs posted the best finishes for the Lions, taking third place in their respective weight classes.
