The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams traveled to Monticello Friday night for an interdivisional River Valley Conference doubleheader with the Panthers.

In the girls contest, the No. 14 ranked Golden Hawks were a winner 44-34. Mid-Prairie led 9-8 after one quarter and 23-17 at the half. The Hawks kept pulling away in the second half, stretching the lead to double figures in the game’s final minutes. Addie Rath led Mid-Prairie with 22 points, Shae Becker had 12. The Golden Hawks overall record is now 11-4.

The Mid-Prairie boys fell in the night cap 66-31. The Panthers made it tough on Mid-Prairie right away, going on a 21-3 run that lasted the entire first quarter. The Hawks trailed 35-9 at the half. Monticello outscored Mid-Prairie 31-22 in the second half to finish off the win. With the loss Mid-Prairie is now 4-12 on the year.
