The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk wrestling team competed Saturday at the River Valley Conference meet held at Northeast Goose Lake High School.

The Golden Hawks finished seventh out of 13 teams with an overall score of 73 points. West Liberty took the team championship with 230 points. Mid-Prairie crowned two champions on the day. Duncan McCain took the title at 132lbs, winning the championship match by 5-2 decision over Jerome Mays of Wilton. The title is McCain’s second conference championship in a row and he runs his overall record this year to 38-0. At 182lbs Visouth Peterschmidt took the championship Saturday. He beat Bryce Oveson of Wilton in sudden victory 3-1 to claim the title. Peterschmidt now has an overall record of 37-3 on the year. The Hawks also got a fourth place finish from Jason Tew at 220lbs and a fifth place finish from Dallas Miller at 113lbs.

The Golden Hawks will next be in action Saturday at the sectional tournament when they travel to Williamsburg.
