President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team has yet to name a nominee for U.S. Secretary of Agriculture and Senator Chuck Grassley has been supporting Iowa Ag Secretary Bill Northey for the spot. Grassley tells KCII News, he is expecting a nominee this week, but can’t speculate on who it may be. Grassley told Vice President Elect Mike Pence about his preference for Northey and the next day saw the Secretary of Agriculture from Pence’s home state of Indiana take a meeting at Trump Tower. None of the possible Agriculture Secretary candidates have made a second appearance at the transition team’s New York headquarters. Grassley says, despite the slow movement of selection, he believes the stream of possible candidates who have moved in and out of Trump Tower over the past weeks indicate that the transition team is making the choice a priority.
