The Affordable Care Act, nicknamed Obamacare, has been the topic of conversation along the campaign trail and recently in Washington, D.C. Republicans are working to repeal or replace the law that aimed to “increase the number of Americans covered by health insurance and decrease the cost of healthcare” with a mandate requiring health insurance for each American. Senator Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) says, it would be ideal to repeal and replace at the same time. Although, he adds there will be a transition period once something is enacted, just as there was a three-year window from the ACA being enacted to becoming practice.

He shares the parts of the ACA that he’d like to keep are people with pre-existing conditions should still be able to get insurance and keep children on parents’ health insurance until a certain age.

In 2012 the Supreme Court decided to uphold the law.
