Senator Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) will be one of the hundreds of thousands of people gathered on the west side of our nation’s capitol Friday for the inauguration of the 45th president of the United States. Grassley shares with KCII he will be with the Iowa delegation Thursday afternoon, hosting a reception for Iowans on Capitol Hill. Then, immediately following Friday’s inauguration, he’ll attend a luncheon with committee chairmen and the newly sworn in president.

Regarding the inaugural parade, Grassley said, “I’ll be in the office, probably watching the parade. I could be on the parade route if I wanted to. I could probably be in a viewing stand with a lot of other members of congress, but I’ve never done that. And I think it’s a waste of time when you can watch it on television and see it better than from the viewing stand.” Saturday night there will be a ball for Iowans, those visiting and those who live in D.C., which Grassley will attend for about an hour.

Grassley was re-elected to the U.S. Senate in November and will be serving his seventh term. His first year in the U.S. Senate was 1981.
