At the most recent Highland School Board meeting, they were given a presentation about the updates being done to their Talented and Gifted program. According to Superintendent Chris Armstrong, TAG instructor Brigid Webb explained where the district is moving with the program. He explained, “She has done a nice job of reworking some things. Making sure our mission statement, program philosophy, and our beliefs are all updated and that they’re all in line with what the state requires from us.” Webb handed out fliers to the board, which included information on the difference between a bright child and a gifted learner.

Armstrong says Webb has been doing good work with the updates to the program, and has already plugged it into their identification procedures. Armstrong says they have approximately 90 students, or about 14% of the student body, throughout the district in the TAG program, which is in line with their desired percentage. He says the school will continue to refine the program to ensure they maintain a good percentage.
