For area hunters and anglers whose licenses are set to expire in 2017, January 10th is the day to watch. Lake Darling Park Ranger Zach Haworth reminds people to look at their licenses to see if it’s expiring this year, and to make sure they get it renewed before resuming hunting and fishing activities. He adds, there are several options for length when renewing licenses, including one year and three year licenses.

In addition to being the license expiration date, January 10th is also the close of white-tailed deer hunting season, and Haworth believes that’s by design each year. He explains, “Folks know that the hunting season is over, and they have all their paperwork and stuff handy. They can take a look at it and know, while it’s still fresh in their minds, that it’s time to go buy a new license, as opposed to maybe putting it away in a drawer and forgetting about it. And then when you go to the next hunting season, or go out to fish in the spring, and not have it updated.” Hunting and fishing licenses can be purchased in many different locations, including the Lake Darling district office, the Washington Ace N More, or the Washington Wal-Mart.
