The Highland boys basketball team traveled to Wellman Monday night for non-conference action against the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks.
Highland took the contest by a 66-48 final score. Things were tight through the first quarter with the Huskies holding a 14-13 lead at the break. Highland opened things up in the second quarter, going on a 13-2 run to take a 36-24 lead into the locker room. In the third quarter, Highland would stretch that lead to as many as 19. In the fourth the Golden Hawks used a 7-0 run to get back within 11 but from there Highland used defense and foul shooting to close out the win.
The Huskies forced 21 turnovers in the victory. They were led by 21 points from Zach Lasek, Bill Burton added 17. Mid-Prairie got 13 points from Tom Butters with Carter Reinier and Caleb Statler each finishing with 10. With the win Highland improves to 7-0 on the year, Mid-Prairie falls to 2-6.
