After entering guilty pleas in November, Jeffrey Bulecheck was sentenced for homicide by vehicle Wednesday. Thirty-year-old Bulecheck of Kalona was sentenced to 15 years in prison, five for serious injury by vehicle and 10 for homicide by vehicle reckless driving.

The Iowa State Patrol charged Bulecheck with vehicular homicide while operating under the influence and serious injury by vehicle following a car wreck that happened December 1st, 2013 that led to the death of a 15-year-old girl. A sedan was traveling northbound on Highway 1 and collided with Bulecheck’s pickup that was going eastbound on 520th Street, he failed to yield at an intersection. Brittany Hochstetler of Grabill, Indiana, was a passenger in the vehicle and was transported by Air Care but died from injuries sustained in the crash. The Wellman teenager who was driving and the other passenger were hospitalized.
