Keota’s homecoming king wrote his name into the basketball record books Friday Night. The Keota Eagles boys’ basketball team held their annual celebration against the Tri-County Trojans in a South Iowa Cedar League battle. The Eagles made 16 three point baskets and ran away with a 76-38 victory.

Cole Stout, this year’s homecoming king, scored a game-high 30 points. He set the school record with nine three-point baskets in a single game. Stout has recorded 65 three-pointers this winter, the most in the state of Iowa. Jacob Wickenkamp and Avery Conrad added 12 points each for Keota. The two combined to bring down 20 rebounds.

The victory is the third straight for the Eagles, improving their record to 13-3 overall. The Keota girls’ basketball team lost to Tri-County, 43-24.The Eagles basketball teams return to the court Tuesday, traveling to Marengo for a South Iowa Cedar League matchup versus the Iowa Valley Tigers. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Iowa Valley High School.
