Lake Darling to Get Long-Awaited Foot Bridge Thanks to Donations

For several years, the Friends of Lake Darling have been wanting to have a 150-foot over-arching pedestrian footbridge constructed on the south side of the lake, and thanks to a large donation, the project will soon be under way.

Five Washington Students Perform at SEIBA

Five Washington students performed as part of the South East Iowa Bandmasters Association, or SEIBA, Honor Band festival over the weekend. The three high school students were Addison McGuire (flute), Audrey Wubbena (alto saxophone), and Erik Murphy (trumpet), and the middle school students were Chloe McGuire (flute) and Evan Miller (trumpet). The five performed in the new University of Iowa Voxman Music Building’s main auditorium. The high school students were under the direction of Nicholas Enz, director of bands at St. Ambrose University. David Newport, retired band director, and composer Robert Sheldon directed the middle school ensemble.
