The Washington County Board of Supervisors is considering vacating part of Nutmeg Avenue, but before they take action on the item they’ll be hosting a public hearing. Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius explained he’d been approached by a property owner who wants a section of the road vacated, as it goes through is property.
The section of road the supervisors will consider is from 133rd Street north to Bunker Mill Bridge. Supervisor Stan Stoops added he spoke with the conservation department, who is not interested at this time in making that a trail. At Tuesday’s meeting, the board decided to hold the public hearing on February 22nd in the evening in Kalona. The exact time and location have not yet been set.
