Since rec league began in fourth grade, Winfield-Mount Union senior Bryce Robison has enjoyed playing basketball. Robison is nine games into his final high school basketball season and his impact can be measured in multiple ways. He’s the Wolves’ team leader with 135 points scored, 116 rebounds grabbed, and 33 assists.

Robison was announced as KCII’s first Hedge Above Lawncare Athlete of the Week of the new year after recording three straight double-doubles to end 2016. W-MU (5-4) won all three games, including two in overtime. Robison tallied 17 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in a 67-59 overtime win versus Iowa Mennonite School. He followed up with 15 points, 16 rebounds, and seven assists in a 54-27 triumph over WACO. He closed out the calendar year scoring a team-high 26 points and brought down 20 rebounds in an overtime victory over Pekin, 71-66. Robison was one point shy of a double-double in W-MU’s 49-41 victory Tuesday at Mediapolis. He scored nine points and brought down 14 boards. Robison has recorded five double-doubles so far and told KCII Sports he’d like to post more in the second half of the season.

The Winfield-Mount Union boys’ basketball team continues conference play Friday, hosting the No. 5 Lone Tree Lions (5-1). The Lions dismantled the Columbus Wildcats (0-9), 67-29 Tuesday in Lone Tree. Tip-off of the boys’ varsity game is set for 7:30 p.m.
