Familiar foes will be postseason opponents on the road to the state tournament for the Washington Demon boys’ basketball team (3-9). The Iowa High School Athletic Association issued postseason assignments for Class 3A and 4A this week. Washington has been grouped with seven other teams in Class 3A Substate 6. The four other members of the Southeast Conference will compete in the tournament including Fairfield, Fort Madison, Mount Pleasant, and Keokuk. The field also features Chariton, Knoxville, and Oskaloosa. Washington has one win in six games versus teams in their playoff pod.

Washington defeated the Keokuk Chiefs Friday night, 58-47. The Demons will return to action this Thursday, hosting the Keota Eagles (15-3) in a non-conference battle. KCII Sports will have live play by play coverage of the game on AM/FM KCII, starting with the Washington Hy-Vee Pregame Show at 7:15 p.m. The game will also stream live on and on the KCII mobile app.
