The Clemons Creek shooting range is getting a makeover this year, thanks to contributions from area law enforcement and the work of Park Ranger Mark Even. According to Washington County Conservation Director Steve Anderson, Even has been working on a plan for modifications to the shooting range, as well as securing funds for the improvements. The work on the 25 yard range will include creating a sheltered area with mats, which will allow officers to practice shooting from a prone position. Additionally, they will be installing new benches and improving the drainage system. Anderson believes the improvements will benefit the officers and anyone else who utilizes the range, because it will give them new ways to practice their marksmanship in a comfortable environment. He estimates the project will be completed by June.
