Washington County’s emergency management commission is moving forward with finding a coordinator just for Washington County. At their last meeting, the commission elected to end the 28E sharing agreement with Keokuk County where the two counties share an emergency management coordinator. At the recent Washington County Local Emergency Planning Committee Meeting Washington County Supervisor and ambulance director Richard Young said the job takes more than 20 hours to do effectively in Washington County and the county now needs a full time person for the role. A committee will be formed to establish the new position.

The commission will also discuss the budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1st. The commission will meet at 6 p.m. at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday.
