A high-scoring opening quarter got the Washington Demon girls’ basketball team (3-7) back on the winning track Saturday. Washington made a trip to Oskaloosa for a non-conference showdown versus the Indians (2-10). Washington outscored Oskaloosa 21-5 in the first eight minutes and ran away with a 57-40 triumph. Sarah Nacos led Washington in scoring with 17 points. Brooke Stout added 10 points and eight rebounds in the victory.The Demons entered the game ranked last in the Southeast Conference with 76 total first quarter points scored.

The Demons are searching for back-to-back wins for the first time this winter when they host the Muscatine Muskies (5-7) tonight.. The teams met last season in Muscatine with the Muskies defeating the Demons, 50-38. Abby Rusch is the Muskies’ leading scorer and facilitator, tallying 106 points and 16 assists. Mati Hepker leads Muscatine with 45 rebounds and 24 steals.
