Four regional wrestling teams will grapple in Mahaska County tonight. The No. 5 Washington Demon wrestling team (25-0) puts their undefeated record on the line in a meet versus Williamsburg (18-4) and Oskaloosa, (6-14). Keokuk (7-12) will wrestle Williamsburg and Oskaloosa. Washington returns to the mat after claiming the East Marshall Duals championship for a second year in a row on Saturday.

Multiple media outlets have Washington wrestlers in their top 10 individual rankings. The Predicament has seven Washington wrestlers rated in Class 2A including: Walker Ikerd (No. 9-106), Kyle Anderson (No. 7-126), Andrew Waite (No. 10-138), Austin Hazelett (No. 6-145), Trey Van Weelden (No. 8-152), Tristin Westphal-Edwards (No. 6-160), and Karlton Skubal (No. 5-195). They also ranked Washington as the 10th best team in the state. IAwrestle recognized five Demon wrestlers in their poll including Ikerd (No. 9-106), Anderson (No. 7-126), Van Weelden (No. 4-152), Westphal-Edwards (No. 6-160), and Skubal (No. 5-195). Washington sits at No. 5 in the Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association rankings.

The strength of the Williamsburg Raiders lineup is at the lighter weights. Grayson Kesterson (106) is graded as Class 2A’s No. 1 wrestler by The Predicament and IAwrestle. Kesterson has won 25 of his 26 matches this winter. Jalen Schropp (113) is ranked No. 9 in The Predicament poll, winning 20 of 27 matches. Williamsburg was the only team to defeat Washington in regular season dual action last season, 43-27. Washington avenged the loss in the regional dual tournament two weeks later, 39-19.

Two Oskaloosa Indian wrestlers have posted 20 or more wins this winter. Josh Diehl (120) has had his hand raised 23 times. Jason Beebe (170) enters competition tonight with 29 wins in 31 matches.. First matches are set to commence at 6 p.m. at Oskaloosa High School.
