A vehicle pursuit ended northwest of Keota Wednesday night when the vehicle crashed. The car went 92 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone, and failed to stop at 10 stop signs. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, at 11:09 p.m. the vehicle wrecked at 310th Avenue and 180th Street, the westbound vehicle on 180th Street entered a corn field. According to the Iowa State Patrol the vehicle attempted to jump 310th Avenue and wrecked.

Air Care was paged to the scene but later disregarded. The driver, 21-year-old Dalton Jack Marine of West Chester, and his passenger, 20-year-old Brittney Jo Weber of Wellman, were transported to Washington County Hospital and Clinics by Keokuk County Ambulance. Neither were wearing seatbelts.

Marine was arrested and charged with felony eluding, driving while barred, reckless driving, no proof of insurance, failure to wear a seatbelt, failure to maintain control, speeding 63 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone, speeding 92 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone, and failure to obey stop signs. Keota QRS, Keota Fire Department, Washington County Sheriff’s personnel, Iowa State Patrol, and Keokuk County Ambulance assisted at the scene.
