A wintry mix fell in Washington and across southeast Iowa Wednesday into early Thursday. Just a trace of snow accumulated in Washington. According to the National Weather Service, the light overnight snowfall and below freezing temperatures caused some slick spots on untreated roads from as far north as Dubuque to as far south as Kahoka, Missouri, including areas of Washington, Jefferson, Keokuk, Louisa, Iowa, Johnson and Henry Counties. Some parts of northern Iowa received heavy snow, with accumulations near a foot in Mason City.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected over the weekend with a chance of snow showers Sunday. According to the forecast, temperatures won’t rise above freezing until Monday. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
