A Washington senior bowler posted a top five finish in a tournament last weekend in Muscatine. The Demon boys’ and girls’ bowling teams competed in the inaugural 1A invitational tournament. The event featured bowlers from Camanche, Central Dewitt, Durant, Louisa-Muscatine, and Mount Pleasant.

The Demon boys’ squad finished third overall with a score of 2,774. Camanche won the tournament team title with 2,897 pins. Colin Zear knocked down 420 pins in two frames, the second-best performance overall. Camanche’s Connor Abbott captured first place honors with a score of 423. Washington sunk 1,819 pins in the individual round and added another 955 pins in the baker rounds.

The Washington girls’ squad came away with a sixth-place finish, dropping 1,797 pins. Louisa-Muscatine won the girls’ title with a final score of 2,912. Trista Kelly posted Washington’s top personal score of 332. The Demons sunk 1,163 pins in round one and an additional 634 in the baker rounds.

The Washington Demon bowling teams will resume Southeast Conference action this weekend, traveling to Fairfield for a meet versus the Trojans. First pins are set to drop at 1:30 p.m.
