The No. 16 ranked Danville Bears ended the Iowa Mennonite School boys basketball team’s seven game winning streak Friday in the annual Southeast Iowa Superconference Shoot Out, beating IMS in Kalona 65-45.

The Bears started the game on an 8-0 run and didn’t give up the lead on the night. Danville used a mix of full court pressure and a trapping 2-3 zone to force 29 IMS turnovers on the night. Danville led 16-9 after one quarter and 37-27 at the half.

The second half saw more of the same as IMS had trouble solving the Danville trap and the Bears extended the lead to 26 at its largest. IMS was led on the night Cole Yoder’s 17 points, Nick Yutzy had 11 and Mitchell Schmeider finished with 10. With the loss IMS is now 15-6 on the year and will next be in action Thursday as they open the district tournament at Lone Tree against the Cedar Valley Christian Huskies.

KCII will have live coverage of the contest beginning with the Washington HyVee pregame show at 6PM and tipoff at 6:30, live from Lone Tree High School.
