The Highland School Board will hold a special meeting tonight, the purpose of which is to resolve any procedural irregularities that occurred at the February 13th meeting. At that meeting, the board held a vote on whether they would close Ainsworth Elementary, and establish Riverside Elementary as the sole elementary building in the district. The motion to go through with the closure of the building failed 3-4 after the initial vote. After further discussion and input from the audience, the motion was made a second time, and passed 6-1.

However, the procedure for making the motion again was done improperly, so the board must convene to correct procedural errors. The board isn’t expected to change their vote of Ainsworth Elementary closing its doors after this school year. The meeting is open to the public and will be held at 6 p.m. in the Highland Board Room.
