The annual Brighton Whoopee Days aren’t until the third full weekend in June, but the Brighton Chamber of Commerce is giving people a head start on putting their imprint on this year’s event. In a tradition dating back several years, the chamber is accepting submissions from the public for a theme for this year’s Whoopee Days. Chamber member Nancy Adrian explains, “We open it up to anyone that feels creative and has an idea that they think would be suitable. We use the theme for the parade, and then also on all of our posters and so forth. So we like something that people can be creative with and develop some neat floats for the parade.”

Last year’s theme was “Brighton Back in Time.” Adrian says there’s no limit to the ideas people can submit, as long as they are family friendly. People have until February 14th to submit their theme suggestions, which can be given to any Brighton Chamber of Commerce member, dropped off at the Brighton Bank, or suggested on the Brighton Chamber Facebook page. The Brighton Chamber will take all the suggestions under consideration, and will chose the one they feel is best for this year’s Whoopee Days. The person who submits the winning theme will be given a free Whoopee Days t-shirt, and Adrian suggested there might be an additional prize yet to be determined.
