The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams made their final road trips of the regular season Friday night when they traveled to Cascade to battle the Cougars in a River Valley Conference doubleheader.

The No. 14 Mid-Prairie girls fell to the No. 8 Lady Cougars 39-35. The game was tight through the first half with Cascade leading 10-8 after one quarter and was tied at 16 at the break. In the third quarter Cascade outscored Mid-Prairie 14-8 to build a six point lead. The Hawks made a push in the fourth quarter after trailing by 10, to get back within two but Mid-Prairie couldn’t find the equalizer down the stretch. The Hawks were led by Addie Rath’s 18 points. With the loss, the Golden Hawks are now 14-6 on the year.

The Golden Hawk boys lost by a 55-29 score. Cascade took an early 14-6 lead after one quarter and led 30-16 at the half. The Cougars put the game out of reach in the third quarter outscoring the Golden Hawks 16-8 in the frame, building a 22 point lead. With the loss, the Golden Hawks are now 6-15 on the year.

The Golden Hawks will next be in action Tuesday night when they host the Washington Demons for a doubleheader.
