Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk football standout Levi Duwa signed his letter of intent with the University of Iowa Wednesday at the Mid-Prairie High School Media Center, officially joining the Hawkeye football program.

Duwa had a dominant career as a Golden Hawk, catching the eye of the Hawkeye coaching staff.

Duwa was a first team all-district defensive selection in 2015 and 2016. He was an all-state defensive selection by the Des Moines Register in 2015 and 2016 and the Iowa Newspaper Association in 2016. He led the state in sacks with 13 in 2015.

While at Mid-Prairie he also participated in wrestling and track. On the mat he accumulated more than 100 career wins, and qualified for the state tournament twice, finishing as runner up in 2016 at 220lbs.

Duwa has dominated the field events thus far in his Mid-Prairie career. He has qualified for state in the shotput in 2014, 2015 and 2016. His best finish in the event came in 2016 when he took 3rd. He has qualified for state in the discus twice, 2015 and 2016 with his best finish coming in 2015 when he took ninth.

He gave his verbal commitment to University of Iowa Head Coach Kirk Ferentz in a meeting in April of 2016.

The Hawkeyes open the 2017 season Saturday, September 2nd at Kinnick Stadium against the Wyoming Cowboys.
