Final Update Day Two Individual State Wrestling Tournament 2/17/17

Class 1A

At 195lbs No. 2 Kaleb Reeves of Sigourney-Keota falls to No. 6 Mason Lyons of Bellevue in consolation action by 11-3 major decision. The loss ends Reeves tournament.

At 220lbs No. 8 Noah Boender of Sigourney-Keota fell to No. 1 Drake Johnsen of Logan-Magnolia in the semifinals 5-1. Boender will wrestle 40-4 Skyler Bonestroo of Western Christian in the consolation bracket on Saturday.

At 285lbs No. 8 Cody Crawford of WACO fell to No. 10 Mitchell Smith of St. Ansgar in consolation action by 5-2 decision. Crawford will wrestle Saturday for seventh place against 33-11 Chase Arends of Dike-New Hartford.

Class 2A

At 106lbs No. 5 Jarod Kadel of Columbus defeats No. 6 Carter Weeks of Vinton-Shellsburg 5-3 in tiebreaking overtime in the semifinals. Kadel advances to the state championship match Saturday night to face 48-1 No. 1 Graeson Kesterson of Williamsburg.

At 126lbs Washington’s Kyle Anderson, ranked No. 6 in the state defeats Brady Fritz of South Tama by a 7-6 decision. Anderson will wrestle Saturday in the consolation round against No. 6 Gabe Ruepke of Chariton with a 53-5 record.

At 145lbs Washington’s Austin Hazelett, ranked No. 6 in the state defeats Tate Battani of Ballard by fall in 1:22. Hazelett will wrestle Saturday in the consolation round against 40-11 Matt Stines of Cherokee, Washington.

At 152lbs No. 6 Trey Van Weelden of Washington defeats No. 9 Cale Krueger of Denver-Tripoli by a 5-4 decision in the semifinals. Van Weelden advances to the state championship match Saturday night to face 45-4 No.2 Isaac Judge of South Tama.

At 160lbs No. 6 Tristin Westphal-Edwards of Washington falls to Lucas Roland of Prairie City-Monroe by 3-1 decision. He will wrestle 26-11 Kyle Sinnott of Albia on Saturday in the seventh place match.

At 170lbs No. 3 Tucker Morrison of Columbus fell to No. 4 Kyler Fisher of Southeast Valley in the semifinals by 4-1 decision. Morrison will wrestle in the consolation bracket Saturday against 34-11 Jacob Wingert of Harlan.

At 182lbs No. 2 Visouth Peterschmidt of Mid-Prairie fell to Ben Lee of Ballard by 13-4 major decision in the semifinals. Peterschmidt will wrestle in the consolation bracket Saturday against 40-9 Nick Foss of Harlan.
