The $10.5 million addition at the Halcyon House in Washington is nearing completion. The added space includes three separate households with 18 private bedrooms, a kitchen and community room, as well as a beauty salon and a doctor’s office. Ceilings have been installed, walls are painted, bathrooms have been tiled and the three kitchens are nearly complete. Chris Marshall, executive director, explains they’re getting really close and are aiming to move in by mid-March.

Furniture will be arriving this week, pictures will start to go up on the walls and all of the flooring is done except for a couple of hallways. She said, “It’s looking beautiful, I’m really happy with how it looks.

Each room will come with a Smart TV, an LED light, closet, and a headboard, nightstand and dresser made in Kalona out of solid cherry wood. Each room also has a European shower, meaning they are zero-level entry to make it easy for residents to use regardless of mobility. The three households are connected by one main hallway. One of the households, Rosewood, is a mid- to advanced-memory care household.

Ground was officially broken June 3rd, 2015, on the project.
