The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams hit the road tonight for the final time this year in River Valley Conference action to take on the Cascade Cougars.

The Golden Hawk girls enter tonight ranked No. 14 in class 3A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. Mid-Prairie enters tonight with a 14-5 record on the year, in their last game they beat West Liberty 69-30 on the road Tuesday, led by Delaney Smith’s 14 points. On the season the Golden Hawks are led by Addie Rath scoring 13 per game. Rath also has the team lead and is second in the conference with 88 assists. Ireland Hostetler leads the Golden Hawks with 161 rebounds, fifth best in the RVC. She also leads the conference with 67 blocks.

The Cascade Lady Cougars come into tonight with an overall record of 17-2. They are ranked No. 8 in class 2A by the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. Tuesday the Cougars won their seventh game in a row beating Monticello 40-27. Abbie Ruggeberg leads the Cougars on the season at 12 points per game. She also leads the team with 96 rebounds. Nicole McDermott leads the Cougars with 53 assists on the year.

These two teams met a year ago with the Hawks taking a 48-37 win.

The Mid-Prairie boys enter tonight with an overall record of 6-14. On Tuesday, they beat West Liberty 66-49 behind 19 points from Derek Rich. On the season the Hawks are led by Caleb Statler scoring nine points per game. He’s also best on the team and eighth in the conference with 108 rebounds.  Brad Tornow has the team lead and is second in the RVC with 63 assists.

Cascade enters tonight with an overall record of 17-1. In their last game they beat Monticello 49-47 on the strength of 14 points from Haris Hoffman. A trio of Cougars lead the way on the scoresheet with Hoffman, Johnny Supple and Gannon O’Brien each scoring 12 points per game. Brock Simon has the team lead with 67 assists, fourth best in the RVC. Hoffman is best on the team and fifth in the league with 114 rebounds.

These two teams met a season ago with Cascade taking a 63-24 win.

Action begins tonight at 6PM at Cascade High School.
