Two longtime rivals will square off in the regional girls basketball tournament tonight in Winfield. The WACO Warriors (6-15) will make the short drive to Winfield-Mount Union high school for the Class 1A Region 6 opener versus the Wolves (7-15). W-MU edged WACO on December 17, 47-39. Both teams enter the postseason winning three of their final five games.

W-MU is coming off a 64-31 victory over the Cardinal Comets in the annual Southeast Iowa Super Conference shootout game. Lexee Hartsock has scored a team-high 221 points and she ranks second in rebounds with 120. Pearl Krieger-Coble has collected 161 rebounds for the Wolves. Hartsock scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds versus WACO in December.

The WACO Warriors enter the playoffs after a 45-43 loss to the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons. Kiana Miller has scored 221 points to lead the Warriors. Halle Kissell ranks second on the team in scoring with 171 points, and her 147 rebounds are the most on the squad. Miller scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds against W-MU earlier this year.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Winfield-Mount Union High School.
