The Iowa Mennonite School boys basketball team begins their path down the tournament trail tonight when they travel to Lone Tree to battle the Cedar Valley Christian Huskies in the first round of the class 1A playoffs.

Iowa Mennonite enters the contest with an overall record of 15-6. IMS was 10-5 in the Superconference North Division, finishing in third place. In their last game, they fell in the Southeast Iowa Superconference Shoot out 65-45 to the No. 16 ranked Danville Bears last Friday. On the season IMS is led by Nick Yutzy at 11 points per game. Yutzy also holds the team lead with 99 assists, fifth best in the Superconference. Mitchell Schmeider has pulled in a team high 91 rebounds on the year.

Cedar Valley Christian enters tonight’s action with an overall record of 5-16, the Huskies were 0-10 in the Tri-Rivers East Conference. In their last game CVC lost to Alburnett 69-48. Kelvin Ridder led the Huskies with 16 points. On the season Cedar Valley Christian is led by Travis Geels in all major categories. He scores 12 points per game, eighth in the Tri-Rivers, he leads the team and is seventh in the conference with 51 assists, Geels also has pulled in a team best 196 rebounds, second most in the Tri-Rivers.
