The Iowa Mennonite School boys basketball team continues their run on the tournament trail tonight in the district semifinals when they host the Springville Orioles.

IMS comes into the night with an overall record of 16-6, they finished 10-5 in third place in the Southeast Iowa Superconference North Division. IMS advanced through round one with a 49-47 come from behind win over Cedar Valley Christian. In that game Iowa Mennonite was led by Mitchell Schmeider’s 17 points, Cole Yoder added 12. On the season IMS is led by Yoder and Nick Yutzy each scoring 10 points per game. Yutzy is best on the team and fifth in the Southeast Iowa Superconference at 99 assists on the season. Schmeider has pulled in 100 rebounds to lead the way.

The Springville Orioles enter tonight with an overall record of 14-8, they finished 7-5 in the Tri-Rivers West Conference, tying for third place. In their first round game they eliminated Iowa Valley 70-37. On the season the Orioles are led by Zach March averaging 15 points per game, fifth best in the Tri-Rivers. Cavanaugh Riley is best on the team and fifth in the conference with 61 assists. Ryan Barner is best for the Orioles on the glass and fourth in the Tri-Rivers with 144 boards.

The winner of tonight’s contest advances to Thursday’s district championship game at Mid-Prairie against the winner of Lone Tree and Lisbon.
