Six more influenza-related deaths have been reported in Iowa since the last reporting week, raising the total deaths this flu season to 34. Flu activity is widespread and high in Iowa at this time, according to the Iowa Influenza Surveillance Network. The State Hygienic Laboratory confirmed 57 influenza A (H3) cases, 26 influenza A (subtype pending), and 19 influenza B cases (three different subtypes), with 66 influenza-related hospitalizations. Also, 59 schools across the state reported 10% or greater absences due to illness, including one in Washington County, one in Jefferson County, and three in Henry County.
