Last year, the Keota outdoor pool was in danger of staying closed over the summer, due to a lack of lifeguards and a pool manager. According to Keota City Clerk Niki Osweiler, they could be in a similar predicament this summer. She says, “We had four new guards last year that got certified, and we’re hoping that those four come back. But we need more than four to operate the pool. So we’re hoping we get more new guards that are willing to get certified.” Osweiler says the city council will approve advertising the positions at their upcoming meeting, and they hope to start interviewing potential candidates soon after. She encourages anyone interested in becoming a lifeguard or pool manager to reach out to her.
