Justin W. Milam

A West Chester man involved in a trial in a case of involuntary manslaughter was recently arrested for shoplifting in Washington. In June of 2015, Justin Milam struck a pedestrian with his car in Wellman, while he was driving under the influence. Kathy Whetstine later died from her injuries. Milam was charged in February of 2016 with involuntary manslaughter, and operating while under the influence – third offense, involving controlled substances. Milam initially pleaded not guilty to all charges, and there were several continuances requested that pushed the date of the trial back.

However, on February 14th, the 31-year-old Milam was arrested by the Washington Police Department for fifth degree theft, a simple misdemeanor also known as shoplifting. Milam will next be in court for a plea hearing in the manslaughter case on February 17th, where he’s expected to change his plea to guilty. After that, he will have a sentencing hearing. His initial court appearance for the shoplifting offense will be held April 3rd.
