The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls basketball team opens up their postseason run tonight at home when they host the West Burlington Falcons in the regional quarterfinals of the class 3A tournament.

The Golden Hawks are ranked No. 12 in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. Mid-Prairie enters tonight’s contest with an overall record of 15-6, they finished third in the River Valley Conference with a league mark of 13-5. In their last game they beat the rival Washington Demons 64-42 behind 17 points from Ali Butters. On the season the Golden Hawks are led by Addie Rath scoring 13 points per game, 10th best in the River Valley Conference. Rath also has the team lead with 97 assists, second in the conference and a new single season Mid-Prairie program record. Ireland Hostetler leads Mid-Prairie on the glass with 176 rebounds, fourth in the RVC. Her 74 blocked shots lead the River Valley Conference and are a new Mid-Prairie single season program record.

West Burlington comes into tonight with an overall record of 2-19. The Falcons finished last in the south division of the Superconference with a 1-15 mark in league play. In their last game they beat the Iowa Mennonite School in the Southeast Iowa Superconference Shoot Out last Saturday 60-32. Jerri Price led the Falcons in the win with 16 points. On the season West Burlington is led by Jerri Price, scoring seven points per game. Gaby Price has the team lead and is eighth in the Superconference south with 45 assists. Iliyah Moore leads the Falcons with 81 rebounds on the year.
