The Sigourney girls basketball team travels to Albia tonight to face the Central Decatur Cardinals in class 2A regional final action.

The winner advances to the 2017 girls state basketball tournament. Sigourney enters play with a 20-4 overall record, they were 13-3 in the South Iowa Cedar League taking third place. The Savages advanced to the finals by beating Danville 50-41 on Friday  night at Highland. Autum Barthelman led the way with 32 points. On the season Autum Barthelman leads Sigourney and the South Iowa Cedar League scoring 18 points per game. Her 93 assists are also best on the team and second in the conference. Anna Ohland leads the Savages on the glass with 131 boards.

The Central Decatur Cardinals enter tonight with a perfect 23-0 record. They were undefeated champions of the Pride of Iowa Conference. The Cardinals are ranked No. 3 in class 2A in the final poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. Central Decatur advanced to the regional final by beating Pekin Friday 73-43 in Leon. Alli Masters led the Cardinals with 23 points. On the season Central Decatur is led by Emma Atwood scoring 19 points per game, best on the team, best in the Pride of Iowa and 10th best in the state. Masters leads the Cardinals and the Pride of Iowa with 93 assists. Masters also has the team lead and is ninth in the conference with 165 rebounds.

Sigourney is entering the game looking for the third state tournament berth in program history. The Savages have made previous trips to state in 1921 and 1992.
